What we focus on

Been busy yet also have been going through some things yet I think I understand what messages God has for me at this time……………

I have been thinking about what people in our society focus on & I wonder do we focus on certain things because we are bored or we focus because there are other reasons behind it?? For one thing I noticed, why are so many people focused on the issue of interracial dating/marriage?? What people don’t want to see is that interracial dating is only at around 10-15%, so it shouldn’t bother people. Same thing w/ gay relationships & marriages, those are only around 10-15% themselves. I say there are a billion people on this earth & I feel everyone deserves happiness as long as they are not harming anyone else. But on the other hand, there is a divorce rate of over 50% in our society yet not many of us talk about it. Why haven’t been anything to resolve THAT issue.

So what do I take in this for life?? Sometimes there are things we decide to focus on that really shouldn’t bother us, and in fact, it bothers us because we ALLOW it to bother us. Also, we shouldn’t use small things & excuses to avoid bigger issues in our lives. If you know there are things to face, you might as well be an adult & face them. Just my 2 cents, hopefully I’ll be writing when I get more free time.

Popular Choice vs. Best Choice

Everything has been decent, still been doing both of my jobs & living day by day.  So the update on Houston is that a former GM I worked w/ in Hot Springs have relocated to an insurance company in the city, I found him on Linkedin & he said he wanted me to apply to the company & he knew how I worked.  I don’t really know if its guaranteed but it does get me a step closer.  Also started to research job fairs online & wanted to try to make a trip to one next month.  Been busy the past few days, other than working, been checking up on my mom because she has been w/ the flu.  Also still supporting my lil sis, had our crosstown rivalry vs. Lakeside & she cheered at the games, girls team won, boys team lost.

Do you believe in “women wont date a man that no other women will date”?? Or “Men wont date a women that other men wont date??”? Maybe this just the nerd in me that’s typing this.  I know that I have to be at the top of my game & be at my best, not just because of women but because I want to be the best man I can be.  But the thing is that this quote had me thinking:

Is this why a lot of good people get overlooked??
Is this why a lot of the “thugs” or the underachieved people getting chose by many other people??

My thing is Im flattered if more than one woman would want me, but would we let the statement overshadow a natural attraction and/or overshadow finding that perfect fit for us??  Do we still going to have that ability to take the time & check a person out to see if we have that special connection??
Just my 2 cents on this…………….

Happy New Year!!!

First blog of the year.  Been off for about a week and a half, going back to work next Monday.  Some good news: Already have my 2^nd job in line, gonna be helping out the finance dept at Oaklawn racetrack, so having to brush up on horse racing/betting terms.  Hope everyone had a great Christmas & a good/safe New Years.

 

So I look back in 2012 & I think over what I had experienced.  I had prayed for self-improvement, gotten a bit of it, yet stings like hell at times.  On a grade scale, I would give 2012 a B.  Hard to explain what I went through, but I know I did things to solify areas in my life.  I had questioned on things in my life, still don’t have all the answers, yet things are more clearer.  I know more of what I want in my life & even when Im not done w/ my goals, I got the ball rolling.  As for the people who did & didn’t make it w/ me for 2013, I learned that you are gonna have people that you would have to cut lose.  Not everyone is gonna be w/ you when you try to better yourself, also learned that everyone you showed respect to & helped out is always not gonna be there for you & could be intimidated at times.  Lost 2 close friendships in 2012 but I was able to get closer to other friends.  I made changes in life & understood who my real friends are, those that share common goals & pushing for the betterment of their own lives.

 

Now for 2013, key goals include finally moving out of Arkansas to Houston.  Im still waiting on info to be shipped from Texas Southern to learn more about their programs & a close friend knew I worked in the housing field so they talked me into the Asset management program in Houston.  Love life?? Well, if it happens, it happens, I just know I want to make myself the best man possible & be more settled before I make one official.
